Der Babysitter – Fünf auf einen Streich: Directed by Frank Tashlin. With Jerry Lewis, Marilyn Maxwell, Reginald Gardiner, Salvatore Baccaloni. A TV repair man must care for the newborn triplets of his former hometown sweetheart, now a famous movie star, so her career will not suffer.

“I have to admit Iu0026#39;ve never been a rabid Jerry Lewis fan (even with a French last name, I canu0026#39;t join some of my relatives on the Continent in idolizing him), but, in looking back, Iu0026#39;ve seen more of his movies than I might have preferred. This one, though, was a lot of fun, possibly because it was a delightfully vulgar remake of a Preston Sturges classic.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe VistaVision/Technicolor production values are first-class; the supporting cast is able to withstand Jerryu0026#39;s frantic goofiness (especially Marilyn Maxwell, who gets to perform the wacked-out production number, u0026quot;White Virgin of the Nile,u0026quot; and Ida Moore as Jerryu0026#39;s elderly landlady, avidly and simultaneously consuming every product being advertised on the TV she is constantly watching); and Frank Tashlinu0026#39;s direction pilots Jerry through the plotu0026#39;s crazy machinations with just the right touch of cartoon-like unreality.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIf youu0026#39;re a Lewis fan, itu0026#39;s a must-see; if you arenu0026#39;t you may still find it an enjoyable way to spend a mindless 103 minutes.”
