Genesis (2016)

Genesis: Directed by Craig S. Cunningham. With Venus Monique, Cabil Gibbs, Jordan Jones, Olivia Jordan. Based on the first book of the Bible, Genesis is a sweeping and poetic look at the beginning of man’s relationship with God. While Jochebed (Venus Monique) hides in a shelter to protect her son from being murdered, she tells him the story of her people over the course of a dangerous night. This film explores the idea that mankind will one day return to the place where we started, but that the journey will be filled with hardship, beauty, and a desperate need to trust the Creator.

“The music is pure perfection, a divine creation that hasnu0026#39;t been equaled and it brought Toto to stardom along with u0026quot;Africau0026quot;. But the video doesnu0026#39;t help the music nall that much. My ideal video for it would be one of those corny romantic clips with some guy desperatly falling for a girl. Here, Steve Barron made a project nthat references u0026quot;West Side Storyu0026quot; with two gangs fighting each other over the title girl, played by Cynthia Rhodes, at the same time the band performs the song in nthis strange lot while the whole action takes place. Itu0026#39;s fine, creative but it didnu0026#39;t match the song idea all that much.n Mr. Barron creates a nice diversion with great choreography moments (dancing and fighting), Rhodes has a wonderful presence on screen and she was spectacle nas Rosanna, the lady in red who conquered many hearts but didnu0026#39;t seem to care for any of them. Itu0026#39;s kinda strange seeing now for lots of reasons, it doesnu0026#39;t have nall that much of appeal in cinematic terms but it has some fun. As stated before, the song is the main reason why folks watch the clip. Jeff Porcarou0026#39;s drums and his nmixture of shuffles are one of the greatest creations of all time and one of the most challenging things for new drummers to learn. I love that song! 9/10”
