The Giant Spider: Directed by Christopher R. Mihm. With Shannon McDonough, Daniel Sjerven, Billie Jo Konze, Michael Cook. When radiation left behind by atomic weapons testing creates a gigantic killer mutant arachnid, it’s up to a trio of scientists, an Army general, and a newspaper reporter and his fiancée to figure out how to stop the hungry beast.

“I can see the attempt to make this a 50u0026#39;s style film, but it doesnu0026#39;t work. Now I have seen movies of the 1950u0026#39;s including the nature on the rampage ones. This isnu0026#39;t that. There are many jokes throughout poking fun at 50u0026#39;s life, and that joke wears thin really quickly. The movie, simply, is too self aware to be a real throwback. Maybe Iu0026#39;m being too critical of the film but…itu0026#39;s a good attempt but just doesnu0026#39;t work. Stop trying too hard.”
