Jack and Jill vs. the World: Directed by Vanessa Parise. With Freddie Prinze Jr., Taryn Manning, Peter Stebbings, Ingrid Doucet. Jack is a N.Y.C. advertising executive with a life as glossy as the commercials he spins. Jill is new to the city, with nothing to stand on but her fiery personality and romantic ideals. Opposites attract, and together they author their own manifesto of “rules to live by.” But Jill betrays Jack by violating rule one – Be Honest.

“I canu0026#39;t recommend this film at all or disagree with the previous review more.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eFrom itu0026#39;s clumsy set up when Taryn Manning , looking too old for this sort of cutesy role, wanders onto the roof of Freddie Prinzes Jr.u0026#39;s office building. Sheu0026#39;s clutching a subway map and asking for directions. He seems bizarrely charmed by someone who appears, to the rest of us, to be a mental patient.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThen , in a sequence we donu0026#39;t see, she gives him her resume and headshots and explains sheu0026#39;s in New York to act and model. Thatu0026#39;s right in a scene we DONu0026#39;T see.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSo, we cut from the roof meeting to Freddie recommending her for a topless modelling job. Hey, now and the what now ??? She accepts no questions asked. Then he supports her in a friendly ,kind way during the shoot. Even though sheu0026#39;s just wearing bikini bottoms, she seems completely happy with it.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIsnu0026#39;t that what motheru0026#39;s warn daughters would happen if they trust strange men in the big city ? This film also has the worst first kiss moment, neither romantic or sexy , expected or wanted. Freddie and Taryn have less chemistry than an organic fruit farm. Although Mr.Prinze can be happy with his first real grown up role, heu0026#39;s a convincing fleshed out adult man now and this performance will see him get much better roles.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eContrary to the previous review, this film really embraces many Hollywood clichés, the terminally ill heroine , the u0026#39;set in his waysu0026#39; businessman realising thereu0026#39;s a freer way to live, the u0026#39;falling in loveu0026#39; montage, the colleague who keeps fixing up Freddie with unsuitable women ! The kooky girl who just wants the whole world to have fun !! On and on..u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eTaryn keeps saying u0026#39; I love New Yorku0026#39; , but as this film was made in Toronto you barely see it. Thereu0026#39;s only enough cash for stock footage ? u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis film takes the idea of u0026#39;Dharma and Gregu0026#39; removes the jokes and stretches it to 90 minutes This film is neither u0026#39;romanticu0026#39; or a u0026#39;comedyu0026#39;.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnd finally I checked all the people who have left comments, the negative/accurate ones come from people whou0026#39;ve made other comments on other films both good and bad. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWhereas the positive ones are all submitted by people who have only every made one comment [ this one] and itu0026#39;s a RAVE ! They also go out of the way to praise the director. This isnu0026#39;t Kubrick or Spielberg,itu0026#39;s just an underpowered chick-flick. I can only presume itu0026#39;s family and friends.”
