Xue shi san (2018)

Xue shi san: Directed by Candy Li. With Lu Huang, Gang Xie, Bo Qian, Heng Li. A reckless female detective, Xingmin, when investigating a murder case, finds the victim dead naked, hung upside down in the basement bathroom. Old detective Laozhou assures that this is one of the prostitute serial murder cases that he has been after for 15 years. As Xingmin tracks down the murderer, she has to deal with her inner prejudice against prostitutes caused by her traumatizing childhood memory, while irresistibly resonate to the murderer herself. To breakthrough the case, she needs to conquer her nightmare and risk herself to uncover the truth.

“I had no idea what I was in for when I sat down to watch this 2018 movie titled u0026quot;Blood 13u0026quot; (aka u0026quot;Xue shi sanu0026quot;) from writer Tu Hu and director Candy Li. But given the movieu0026#39;s cover, I assumed it was a horror movie of sorts. Well, turns out that this was a crime thriller movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe storyline told in u0026quot;Blood 13u0026quot; was a bit confusing, and if I have to be bluntly honest, it was a bit boring. There was just simply too little of any interest happening throughout the course of the movie. And that resulted in the movie feeling like it a was 4 hour movie that I was watching and not just the 99 minutes that the movie ran for.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIf felt like writer Tu Hu had set out to accomplish a bit too much with the storyline presented in u0026quot;Blood 13u0026quot;, and it wasnu0026#39;t a wholly accomplished endeavor. I must admit that I was only mildly entertained by what transpired throughout the course of the movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe acting in the movie was adequate, although I canu0026#39;t really point out any single actor or actress and say that he or she was the star of the movie. I believe it was the mundane storyline and script that was the cause of this.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI am rating u0026quot;Blood 13u0026quot; a very mediocre five out of ten stars. If you enjoy a good crime thriller, then there are far better choices readily available. And while I managed to sit through all of u0026quot;Blood 13u0026quot;, this is not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.”
