“Itu0026#39;s hard to get your head around the fact that u0026#39;Reservoir Dogsu0026#39; has been around for ten years. Itu0026#39;s almost difficult to remember a time before Tarantino made such an enormous impact (good and bad) on movies, but I saw this movie first time round before the hype. All I knew was that, like another u0026quot;dogu0026quot; movie from the same era that I saw, u0026#39;Man Bites Dogu0026#39;, that it was supposed to be violent, funny and disturbing, and that it starred a long time favourite of mine Harvey Keitel, and Tim Roth, who I mainly knew from Greenawayu0026#39;s u0026#39;The Cook The Thief His Wife u0026amp; Her Loveru0026#39;. Okay, I hope itu0026#39;s good I thought as I waited in the cinema listening to some half remembered 70s A.M. pop and a strange conversation about Madonnau0026#39;s sex life (the cinema was playing the soundtrack album before the main feature, but what did we know). Then the movie itself, electrifying and fascinating from the word go. Itu0026#39;s impossible to describe the impact of seeing this for the first time without knowing what to expect! Still one of my greatest movie memories. Ten years later Iu0026#39;ve seen it countless times so the surprise has obviously worn off, but it is still a brilliant movie because beneath the violence and wise-cracks of Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi – u0026#39;In The Soupu0026#39;), Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen – u0026#39;Thelma u0026amp; Louiseu0026#39;), and Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn – u0026#39;At Close Rangeu0026#39;), there is a lot of depth, that being the very human relationship between Mr. White (Keitel) and Mr.Orange (Roth). To me that is one of the things that elevates this above the many lame and unoriginal u0026quot;Tarantinoesqueu0026quot; movies weu0026#39;ve had to endure since u0026#39;Pulp Fictionu0026#39;. His imitators just simply donu0026#39;t have a clue!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSimply brilliant cinema, and a modern classic. This is absolutely essential viewing!”
