Jack Walker (2021)
49KJack Walker: Directed by Tanay Genco Ulgen. With Stefan Morawietz, Denis Lyons, Kathrin Höhne, Michael Bornhütter. Once Jack Walker was Germany’s greatest action star, the hero of countless Germanic martial arts and action adventures, women wanted him and men wanted to be him, the world was his for the taking and he was the King of the action genre, filling cinemas with his adventures onscreen and the tabloids with his adventures off-screen.nnBut success can be a fickle mistress and over the years its turned its back on Jack, firstly his films began to stop playing in the cinema and his appearances in the papers was for the wrong reasons, he then became the King of Direct to Video, but the budgets have gotten smaller and his stardom has faded, not helped by his ego and eccentricities, and now he’s not even the King of DTV, he’s barely holding on to any title but “has been’.nnNow the studios no longer answer his calls, while he avoids calls from the people he owes money to, with his debts mounting and no better offer on the table, Jack reluctantly agrees to star in a low budget action comedy, its nothing more than a student film really, but hey a pocketful of cash, a warm bed, an attractive co-star and a crew made up of “Jack Walker Fans” is better than nothing right? So at least his ego will be fed.nnBut little do the cast and crew know the isolated location they have chosen for the film, has been taken over by a gang of real life criminals, and this time the bullets, the knives and the fights are for real. There is no take two this time!nnJack Walker will have to draw upon all of his reel life action movie expertise to try and keep himself and the crew safe, and maybe this time, just for once, Jack Walker can save the day and his friends for real, and become the real life hero he’s always wanted to be!
“This is a very low budget movie. And the plot is pretty implausible. BUT it rises above its meager resources because of a few of the actors.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eStefan Morawietz, plays Jack Walker is a washed up, world weary action movie star who is forced to accept work on a low budget, almost film student movie. Stefan really carries the whole movie. He is very likable and one cannot help but cheer him on.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe other stand out performance is by Denis Lyons who obviously enjoys playing this role as he chews up the scenery and gives a delicious and yet believable over the top performance as the villain. (He even plays a little evil music on a pipe organ!)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBe prepared to suspend disbelief because itu0026#39;s a silly little movie that starts out slowly. Also, the production values, frequently lack of background music and the low quality sound production are sometimes a little distracting.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBut the crew of this film obvious made this movie as a labor of love and as a paean to classic Schwarzenegger and Stallone movies. Also, The fight scenes are pretty good considering the budget.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI am surprised at how much I got a kick out of this weird, little, silly, low budget movie. I enjoyed it and found myself cheering on the main hero, just as one does in big budget, better produced action movies.”
