Queen of the Morning Calm: Directed by Gloria Kim. With Tina Jung, Eponine Lee, Jesse LaVercombe, Shaun Benson. A film about a young immigrant sex worker, her little girl and their journey of self-empowerment and love.

“An ethnic-Korean woman is been working as a stripper-plus. Her 10-year-old daughter adores her father, who occasionally visits, but is financially irresponsible, and subject to bipolar attitudes that look like a precursor to being abusive. Mom is trying to improve herself by taking accounting courses, but has problems with getting babysitters.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWith a female writer-director, this definitely has a female point of view. What I found most interesting was the performance of Eponine Lee as the child, and I wasnu0026#39;t surprised to see that she received a special jury award. But there are a few too many loose ends, and a bit too many characters. Iu0026#39;ll recheck the film when it comes back out on TV, so I can rewind and re-view some of the happenings.”
