“In The Gory Days Of Le Brady (2018) u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e**** (out of 4)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDavid Gregory produced and directed this thirty-minute documentary that takes a look at the Le Brady theater in France, which for several decades showed countless horror and exploitation movies. Author and former employee Jacques Thorens sits down and discusses the history of the theater as well as others around it who are sadly now all out of business. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThereu0026#39;s no doubt that Gregory is one of the greatest filmmakers out there when it comes to documentaries like this. He really knows how to tell a story and also give the viewer a real treat for their eyes, which is exactly what he does here. Thorens does a marvelous job at talking about the history of the theater including giving us details about a variety of double features that played there. He tells us stories about the screen, the toilets as well as various issues that would happen inside. Throughout the stories we also get some wonderful photographs showing off the outside of the theater and just take a look at those giant posters!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eEveryone knows about 42nd Street but Iu0026#39;m going to guess this theater and others like it arenu0026#39;t as well known or remembered by exploitation fans, which is another reason why this documentary is so interesting to watch. Thereu0026#39;s a lot of great stuff here that fans of the genre should enjoy.”
