“Iu0026#39;ve just finished watching u0026quot;Playgroundu0026quot;, so forgive me if Iu0026#39;m more than a little shaken. For the purpose of background, I am a huge horror fan. Itu0026#39;s my preferred genre, and one that I spend more time than is probably healthy watching.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003ePlayground is not what Iu0026#39;d call a horror film. In fact, itu0026#39;s not even a film that I can, in good conscience, recommend to anyone.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt is a horror film in the sense that what transpires is horrific, but itu0026#39;s not ghosts and goblins or inexplicably immortal slashers. What transpires is horrific because it is real. No, this isnu0026#39;t a snuff film, though it is based on a very real case that other reviewers have touched on.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI am no lightweight. Iu0026#39;ve seen just about anything you can imagine in the realm of fictional violence. Iu0026#39;ve always stopped short of anything depicting cruelty towards real people.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eHeed my warning when I say that this movie is not one you should enter into blindly. Do some research first, for Godu0026#39;s sake, and make sure youu0026#39;re braced for what is to come.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI gave this a u0026quot;10u0026quot; because it truly horrified me. Iu0026#39;m so unnerved that Iu0026#39;m trembling as I write this. Itu0026#39;s a u0026quot;10u0026quot; because this is the world weu0026#39;ve created, a world where this kind of horror is all-too commonplace. A world devoid of empathy. I gave this a u0026quot;10u0026quot; because maybe some people need to be made to watch this. Maybe some people need to bear witness to what theyu0026#39;ve made.”
