Haunted Hill: Directed by William Malone. With Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs, Peter Gallagher. An amusement park mogul offers a group of diverse people $1,000,000 to spend the night in a haunted house with a horrifying past.

“William Castle made silly, gimmicky b-grade horror movies that are campy and amusing even today. The idea of remaking one of them with a multi-million dollar budget and C.G.I. effects seems like a stupid thing to do, and sitting through this nonsense only confirms it. It isnu0026#39;t funny, it isnu0026#39;t exciting, it isnu0026#39;t scary, it isnu0026#39;t anything of much really. Geoffrey Rush gives a typically hammy performance in the original Vincent Price role. I personally canu0026#39;t stand the guy so that was a definite stumbling block for me. The beautiful Famke Janssen makes watchable eye candy, but her character and the other supporting losers are one dimensional and completely uninteresting. Even a cameo by horror legend Jeffrey Combs canu0026#39;t save this turkey. A perfect example of the inferiority of current b-grade movies compared to 50s and 60s ones. Thereu0026#39;s not even ONE laugh or chill to be has in this overblown, tedious waste of time. Rent the original. It may be ridiculous but at least it is entertaining!”
