“The film is about an u0026quot;uglyu0026quot; guy who gets to wear a suit that makes him handsome.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI didnu0026#39;t really know what to expect from this film because itu0026#39;s the first foreign romantic comedy film that Iu0026#39;ve seen. To my surprise, itu0026#39;s not at all different from the style of a romantic comedy that comes from the U.S. I thought it was a funny and sweet film with a few dumb jokes, like the one where our protagonist sticks his finger up his nose every time he thinks. That was so unnecessary.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe predictability is also there, especially the twist in the end, but that doesnu0026#39;t make the film bad at all. Muga Tsukaji gives a comedic performance, although he isnu0026#39;t that good at being dramatic. Keiko Kitagawa, his potential love interest, good and beautiful as well.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOne problem I had with the film is that the third act resolves itself a little too quickly. Our protagonist faces a predicament that has been going on for probably a third of the filmu0026#39;s running time and it gets resolved in seconds…literally. Itu0026#39;s exactly a deus ex machina!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnother problem I had with the film is that our protagonist is so shallow. It takes him so many times to learn the message of u0026quot;beauty is skin deepu0026quot; that when you think he finally got the message to his head, heu0026#39;s STILL talking about how ugly he is and how nobody would like him. That was truly frustrating.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBut other than those two flaws, I enjoyed the film for what is it. Itu0026#39;s funny and sweet, although sometimes shallow.”
