Murder, She Wrote: A Story to Die For (TV Movie 2000). 1h 35m | TV-PG

“I am a huge Murder, She Wrote fan (and Ellery Queen, Agatha Christie, and John Dickson Carr fan, including adaptations) but for the longest time I had never seen the MSW movies, except for Celtic Riddle (I had read that book before it became a movie actually.) I was feening them like an addict. I looked everywhere, couldnu0026#39;t find them. Finally, Hallmark aired the three movies a few years ago.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIu0026#39;m over the moon. Really, if this were part of the regular series Iu0026#39;d be saying this was my favorite episode block ever. We have Jessica at a writeru0026#39;s conference, people calling her on all her investigating and the publicity itu0026#39;s brought her books, questioning her motives. Itu0026#39;s beautiful. While it still hovers just below painting a picture of a complex character it gives us a lot to like. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnd the story is classic MSW. In fact, altogether Iu0026#39;d say this is back to basics. Great plot, more than just cardboard cutouts for characters, and a sleek production. While there wasnu0026#39;t a high body count, the main murder was bloody (considering itu0026#39;s MSW weu0026#39;re talking about.) Also, ASTDF features some of the best acting in supporting roles MSW had seen in a long time (after the late 90s cringe- inducing performances from young u0026quot;up and comers.u0026quot;) And, this might be Angelau0026#39;s finest portrayal of Jessica Fletcher yet. Maybe because sheu0026#39;s aged, but she seems more vulnerable than ever before (save Thursdayu0026#39;s Child). u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI only wish somehow Seth couldu0026#39;ve been involved, as with all the movies we donu0026#39;t even get a single mention of Cabot Cove (IIRC). u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIf you havenu0026#39;t seen it, and youu0026#39;re a fan, make every effort to do so. You wonu0026#39;t be disappointed. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAngela, I love you. Jessica, I canu0026#39;t wait till they remake you and your world for a new audience — which Iu0026#39;m sure they will.”
