Brother White (2012). 1h 28m | G

“No way on Godu0026#39;s green earth would wholesome, white, and white bread David A.R. White ever be given an assignment as pastor in a black church. No way either would a black church be associated with the ministry of one of those tele-evangelist types like Ray Wise. But thatu0026#39;s what the film Brother White would have you believe. Not in this world.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWhite plays an assistant pastor, one of many in Wiseu0026#39;s organization and heu0026#39;s earnest but not terribly effective. He gets an assignment to move from California to Atlanta and pastor a black church in a poor neighborhood in Atlanta thatu0026#39;s in Chapter 11 with a lot of rich and powerful folks looking to close it. I donu0026#39;t think I have to go much further.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSuch television veterans as Reginald Vel Johnson and Jackee are in the cast here and thereu0026#39;s some good gospel singing for those who like such music. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eHow does White do it? Think of those old Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland movies and youu0026#39;ll have the answer. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWell it worked for Mickey and Judy.”
