“Black humor is a genre difficult to handle ; this story of an unemployed guy who becomes a hired killer can be looked upon as a spoof on the u0026quot;seriousu0026quot; thrillers;and ,thanks to a wonderful cast and hilarious lines in the grand tradition of Michel Audiard ,it brilliantly succeeds .u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe secondary characters are a superb gallery of weirdoes: half-wit Mulot (Thomas Mustin ) who teaches the trick of the trades to the new gas station man -the place where to smoke and the place where to steal beers -, good guy Tom (Gustave Kervern ) who wants to remain honest , hateful executive ,complete with suit and tie (Alex Lutz)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBoth principals (Duris and Blanc) make an enthusing pair, the latter recalling Bernard Blier in those spoofs of long ago ; thereu0026#39;s a tendency to scatology and urine plays a prominent part in the story ,but it inspires excellent gags ,avoiding vulgarity: Durisu0026#39;s double revenge on Lutzu0026#39;s smug swagger (the winner who represents the careerist society he hates ); the old shotgun which was used as a toilet brush .u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eTill the last picture ,one wonders whether the hitman will renege on his u0026quot;oddjobu0026quot; .After all ,heu0026#39;s at odds with the society.”
