A Love Story from the Streets (2023). 1h 45m | Unrated

“Just not a great movie, mediocre acting, mediocre story. Very low budget, thatu0026#39;s not always a bad thing, but in this case it made for bad performances. I canu0026#39;t help but feel like the main girl was a Nicki Minaj wannabe. I wasnu0026#39;t overly invested in the story as I wasnu0026#39;t engaged by the main characters or didnu0026#39;t see any genuine character development. I wanted to like this, I really did, Ive been wanting a good love story that didnu0026#39;t come from a fairytale, privileged setting, one that showed genuine portrayal of average people falling in love while facing the struggle, together. This just did not deliver. Also, it almost feels like itu0026#39;s trying way to hard to show Black Americans in a negative light, where is the genuine black love stories that uplifts people, not just stories filled of drug addiction, stripping and violence. Itu0026#39;s one thing to portray the struggle in a realistic way, or to capture a real picture about life in the streets, but this only helping to reinforce bigot opinions about people of colour.”
