L’enfant rêvé: Directed by Raphaël Jacoulot. With Jalil Lespert, Louise Bourgoin, Mélanie Doutey, Jean-Marie Winling. After Francois inherits the family sawmill, he and his wife Naomi try for a child. But when Naomi finds that she is infertile, Francois engages in an affair with his neighbor and must decide where his heart lies when she falls pregnant.

Pas du tout ! Because soon Patricia is pregnant by her lover : although François is elated (my own flash and blood) , the lovers are out on a limb:shall they divorce ?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis is good psychological drama , filmed on location in the grandiose landscapes of the Jura Mountains (the cinematography is splendid indeed) , well acted and off the beaten track . The social context , the sawmill François and his wife run, which runs into difficulties (although itu0026#39;s not mentioned in the film , importations of wood from North Europa cause problems )is carefully depicted and one feels husbandu0026#39;s and wifeu0026#39;s love for their work and for the raw material ,wood: François tells the woman from the adoption agency he would take his foster child to the forest and make him share his passion (but it does not convince the lady). And he will do it ,even though it will be short-lived.(an admirable scene)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eUnfortunately , when youu0026#39;ve got no child, you u0026#39;re not u0026quot;normal u0026quot;: the quarrel during the grand-parentsu0026#39; golden wedding is revealing ,and François u0026#39;s humiliation knows no bound .u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eEllipsis is a common procedure in film narrative ,but here itu0026#39;s brilliantly used: ; after theyu0026#39;ve seen François rock the baby in his arms , thereu0026#39;s no scene between the four protagonists of the affair ; Noémie ,the cheated wife ,waits to be home .u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eRecommended.”
