“I am not well versed in the japanese art of ukiyo-e or in Hokusaiu0026#39;s life itself, and I donu0026#39;t know how historically accurate the movie is, but disregarding that, I greatly enjoyed the portrayal of Hokusai as a person, whether romanticized or not.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAs someone who has an u0026quot;artisticu0026quot; profession, there is so much I could relate to my own experience. The self-doubt, the jealousy, the constant quest for inspiration. Itu0026#39;s something that touches every generation of artists.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI also thoroughly enjoyed the sets and costumes from Edo Japan. The directing was very efficient, with a few inventive scenes that were quite impactful.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe only things Iu0026#39;d criticize were some of the dialogues feeling a little stiff/unnatural as well as a slow pace that might leave some specators behind, even for a movie thatu0026#39;s only 90 min long.”
