Lucky Fat Man (2017)

Chow Chong Fat and Wat Kam Heung, who knew each other since young, are coming to their 10th wedding anniversary. Fat always works as an accountant and also a handy man in the family business “Lo Wat Kei” founded by Heung’s father. Fat is ordered around by Heung’s family members every day. Bullied by Heung’s mom, uncle and aunt, Fat leads a very miserable life. The only thing that brings Fat out of his rigid and boring life in “Lo Wat Kei” is the reunion with his dream lover Ceci. Lacking the joy of life, Fat buys a lottery ticket which wins him the first prize of 20 million HK dollars. But this is just the start of the whole exciting story.

I hadnu0026#39;t even heard about this comedy prior to now in 2020 as I sat down to watch it.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWell, I must admit that u0026quot;Lucky Fat Manu0026quot; was a swing and a miss. It fully fell short of managing to entertain me. Sure, I sat through the entire movie, but I canu0026#39;t claim to be impressed, nor particularly entertained. So why watch it to the end? Well, I felt that the movie had potential, so of course I wanted to give it a proper chance.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eBut director Jill Wong just didnu0026#39;t step up to the plate and delivered where it mattered. So for me, this movie came and went without leaving a lasting impression in any way.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe storyline was the cause of the movie being so boring for me. It just failed to capture my interest, and very little of any worth actually happened throughout the course of the entire movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt should be said, though, that the movie actually had a good ensemble of actors and actresses. Just a real shame that they virtually had nothing to work with in terms of a proper script and storyline.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eFor a Hong Kong comedy, then u0026quot;Lucky Fat Manu0026quot; failed on almost every account. As such, I am rating it a generous three out of ten stars.”
