Omotenashi (2018). Omotenashi: Directed by Jay Chern. With Munetaka Aoki, Mina Fujii, Kyôko Kagawa, Tae Kimura. The young heir to a construction company in Taiwan is sent to Kyoto to oversee the renovation of a hotel they've bought. In the hopes to get back with his ex and sell the hotel, he meets the in-keeper and her daughter.

“I found this movie to be enjoyable, sweet and although predictable highly entertaining. There were many poignant scenes full of meaning and metaphor, the wind in the trees, fog in the mountains, the direction of the shoes. The three young leads were charismatic. The older characters were also subtle and interesting. u0026quot;Omotenashiu0026quot; is Japanese hospitality, an art form that was very visible when I visited Japan in the 70s and 80s. As the movie depicts itu0026#39;s now seen as quaint, old-fashioned, irrelevant. But is it?”
