Padre Pio (2022). Padre Pio: Directed by Abel Ferrara. With Shia LaBeouf, Cristina Chiriac, Marco Leonardi, Salvatore Ruocco. WWI has ended but events surrounding the first free election in Italy threaten to tear the village apart. Padre Pio struggles with his own personal demons, ultimately emerging to become one of Catholicism's most venerated figures.

“You probably know Padre PIO for his miracles, his stigmata or maybe because of the thousands of people that were there to see him in person, and get the absolution from him. Or his sense of humor.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThat might be one of the biggest problems with this movie. The real story is too recent, and there are tapes and many recordings of this Saint. Yet, the movie is focused on the early years of monastic life, and horrors of war. Itu0026#39;s about politics of the time and historic data, that i couldnu0026#39;t care less.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003ePut a Hollywood version, mold the characters to be entertaining, even if they were real people… or make a dark documentary well acted, but boring AF, Which would you choose?. Well, thatu0026#39;s how I compare this to The Popeu0026#39;s Exorcist. Russell Crowe, got Padre PIO perfectly (although it wasnu0026#39;t supposed to be him) but at least was more inspiring, that this bland snoozer.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eItu0026#39;s boring, long, dark and political… If thatu0026#39;s your cup of tea, youu0026#39;ll enjoy it.”
