The Shuroo Process (2021). The Shuroo Process: Directed by Emrhys Cooper. With Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Eric Roberts, Rainey Qualley. When a young NYC based freelance magazine writer, frustrated with the pressures of a failing publishing world and a less than promising romantic life, becomes infatuated by a wildly charismatic self-help guru it sends her on a journey of self improvement with catastrophic consequences.

“This film has been written off by some lazy press reviewers as just another mockney fighting movie, probably due to its slightly unfortunate title and cover art. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe reality is that couldnu0026#39;t be further from the truth. Although I sat down expecting to watch some kind of sub-Nick Love fluff (which isnu0026#39;t setting the bar very high at all), this was a far better film than I had expected. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe cinematography, music, performances and pacing were all very good, and the story is far from the kind of nonsense youu0026#39;d associate with most standard football hooligan-style movies. It has nuance, depth and some great twists. Itu0026#39;s a proper film, basically, and not just a load of fighting. Though thereu0026#39;s a fair amount of that too. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI donu0026#39;t normally write reviews but I felt compelled to defend this movie because on reading some reviews (after Iu0026#39;d seen the film) it seemed that a lot of people had got it completely wrong and probably prejudged it because from a glance at the box, youu0026#39;d think it was a bit dim. But it isnu0026#39;t. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eGood work all round.”
