“To that person who bitterly gave this movie a one-star review saying all the others are five-day old account shills: my account isnu0026#39;t five days old, btw, so come at me. The movie isnu0026#39;t perfect. I, too, saw the negative reviews thinking, u0026quot;Great. Itu0026#39;s Thunder Force all over again.u0026quot; Thank goodness, itu0026#39;s not.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe negative criticisms canu0026#39;t even find a common ground. Some said itu0026#39;s too melodramatic, some said itu0026#39;s not dramatic enough. u0026quot;Pacing was all over the place. The CGI bird was too distracting. The songs are too emotionally manipulative.u0026quot; Etc, etc. I find that for some of us women who actually relate– those of us who lost loved ones (doesnu0026#39;t even have to be your child) knows that life had to go on. You have to go to work, you have to pay the bills and do chores.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe bird wasnu0026#39;t that distracting for me, personally. I turned off the subtitles in my second viewing so the song lyrics showing on the screen donu0026#39;t ruin the mood or be too on the nose. Simple.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThere were times when Iu0026#39;m *this* close to full on bawling and then itu0026#39;ll give me chance to recover with a cute scene. I guess in real life when someone is in funerals youu0026#39;d find others laughing, telling jokes to each other and some are sobbing through the rest of the week.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis movie makes sense to a lot of those who can relate, I guess. Oscar bait? Maybe. But you canu0026#39;t deny the performances there by the leads (Melissa McCarthy and Chris Ou0026#39;Dowd) were undoubtedly very moving. If the movie was longer, maybe itu0026#39;ll be able to tell the story a little bit better.”
