“Just saw this movie online. Now Iu0026#39;m a tough audience Iu0026#39;ll admit when it comes to horror since Iu0026#39;ve watched tons of horror movies already. Yet I was still quite disappointed with this one, since the original Japanese Ju-On movie and the first American remake were one of those few horror flicks that actually managed to scare me!nHonestly I think one of the reasons this one isnu0026#39;t working on me is because they almost entirely removed the u0026#39;Japanese partu0026#39; of the story. I guess Japanese people just naturally freak me out me (no offense, I canu0026#39;t help it!).nBut another part is that the writer and director just tried to add too much into one 1,5 hour movie. He jumps from one family to the other, there is not much time at all to get invested into the charactersu0026#39; storylines, which basically makes you end up not caring when, if and how they die. I even didnu0026#39;t care much about the main characteru0026#39;s fate (the police detective woman).nI see a lot of similarities with American Horror Story season 1: Murder House. The whole idea of people who die in that house u0026#39;live onu0026#39; etc. Only problem is that storyline had a whole season to develop, this only had 1,5 hour. So imo he basically tried to tie the ju-on grudge story to a concept similar to AHS Murder House. Itu0026#39;s just way too much to put into one relatively short movie!nAlso the jumpscares were boring, the ghosts didnu0026#39;t manage to scare me at all…I almost fell asleep while watching it! Not a good sign!”
