“I just saw u0026quot;Ratatouilleu0026quot; tonight.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eItu0026#39;s a first class movie. Several thoughts come to mind…u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-The character performances are so good, I think thereu0026#39;s no sort of movie they couldnu0026#39;t make. Iu0026#39;ve heard Pixaru0026#39;s John Carter of Mars is going to be live action? No! I want them to do it all animated.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-u0026quot;Carsu0026quot; definitely _was_ a lower-value softball they threw to finish out that original Disney-gets-half-of-everything-plus-sequel-rights contract they were in at the time. I remember all the clucking last summer about how Pixar had lost its way.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-There were a few moments when they seemed to lose that stylized reality they had established and things looked merely u0026quot;realu0026quot;.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-There was one scene in the latter part of the film where I thought u0026quot;I canu0026#39;t believe they are doing this tired movie clichéu0026quot; but they pulled out of it at the last second and made it something new.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-The 2D-ish end credits were great. Stick it out to the very end to see the mo-cap disclaimer!u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e-With this, Brad Bird is certainly one of the animation gods now.”
