About Face: Supermodels Then and Now (2012)
42KAbout Face: Supermodels Then and Now: Directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. With Carmen Dell’Orefice, Isabella Rossellini, Jerry Hall, Christie Brinkley. ‘About Face’ explores beauty and aging through the stories of the original supermodels: women, now between fifty and eighty years old, whose images defined our sense of beauty over the last half-century. Shot in Timothy Greenfield-Sanders’ intimate portrait style, participants include Isabella Rossellini, Christie Brinkley, Marisa Berenson, China Machado, Beverly Johnson, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Paulina Porizkova, Jerry Hall, and Christy Turlington among others. They discuss the fashion industry, their careers, aging, plastic surgery, botox, and how they have reassessed and redefined their own sense of beauty as they have aged. Designer Calvin Klein says in the film, ‘They had something inside that came through…they had character, they had personality. Those qualities never age’.
“Just watched this HBO documentary called u0026quot;About Faceu0026quot; which is a collection of clips and interviews that features many well known and top notch famous supermodels. It showcases and displays how each started their work young and gradually the beauty developed and for sure the age and becoming old started to happen. Yet as most tell the life of a model comes as a price from a lot of sex to drugs binges, itu0026#39;s a heck of a lot of fun early on, but when the age hits the beauty is reworked and retooled with plastic surgery and Botox procedures. Still mostly itu0026#39;s just a beauty face of retooling and reworking and the love and fresh attitudes of the ladies still remain the same as they all live and love longer and enjoy much of the stuff from their early years as Jerry Hall stated even though older she still likes to wear sexy silk lingerie! Overall good doc that shows the life and ups and downs of supermodels as it gives a good history of how beauty does age and grow old only to be reworked and retooled. And the clips and interviews with Jerry Hall, Beverly Johnson, Christy Turlington, and Paulina Porizkova are good and memorable.”
