Video World: Directed by Ben Churchill. With Ben Churchill, Ed Kaczynski, Kathy Masiulis, Julie Rowlsmd. Video World is like other movie rental stores. It’s the best place in town to discover new films. It also went out of business. Documentary filmmaker Ben Churchill returns to his hometown of Woodbury, Connecticut to capture the store’s final weeks and celebrate the dying culture of local video stores.

“Video World (2013)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e*** 1/2 (out of 4)u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDirector Ben Churchill heard that the local video store was shutting down so he decided to interview the owner as well as document the stores final few weeks. Iu0026#39;m not going to lie but I love being able to stream movies. Thereu0026#39;s no question that having so many movies at the tip of your finger is a great thing for film buffs but at the same time thereu0026#39;s no denying that future generations are going to miss what it was like walking into a video store and discovering new films.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThis is especially true if you were renting movies back in the 80s or 90s. This documentary will certainly be enjoyed by people who remember the days when video stores ruled and this is also a nice little tribute to the fact that video stores were more than just a place where you could rent movies. There are some nice interviews with former workers who talk about their favorite movies plus what it was like renting out adult material. The interviews with the owner are also nice as he discusses how the business changed over the years.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAt just under twenty minutes thereu0026#39;s certainly nothing ground- breaking here but those who remember video stores should enjoy it.”
