“While u0026quot;Grumpyu0026quot; was enjoyable, I think u0026quot;Grumpieru0026quot; is the better overall movie. More attention is given to the supporting characters, the plot is slightly more complex, the lines are better, the jokes are better, and Lemmon and Matthau once again give excellent performances. Granted, this still isnu0026#39;t as good as it could be, but I think itu0026#39;s a noticeable step up from the original. I really donu0026#39;t get all the negativity toward it… come on, people, itu0026#39;s just a silly comedy. Lighten up.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSpeaking of negativity, another reviewer, whom I wonu0026#39;t name here (oh all right, itu0026#39;s John Ulmer), seems to think this movie is nothing more than a u0026quot;shouting match,u0026quot; and is concerned about the age difference between the Old Men and their lady friends. I disagree on both points. The dialogue doesnu0026#39;t have as much shouting this time around, and Matthauu0026#39;s girl is most certainly NOT u0026quot;fortysomething.u0026quot; Believe it or not, she was 61 at the time, and I must say itu0026#39;s quite amazing how good she looks for a woman her age (Matthau was 75–a pretty big age difference, true, but I canu0026#39;t imagine thereu0026#39;s a lot of men to choose from when youu0026#39;re single and in your 60s!). I hate to chastise another reviewer like this, but I thought it was worth mentioning.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSo in conclusion… itu0026#39;s a good movie. Doesnu0026#39;t deserve its bad rap.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003e7/10 stars.”
