“Writer-director Barrett has some serious skills when it comes to scripting and camerawork, but he chooses to hide them behind styles and tropes that are somewhat out of time. The only valid criticism of SEANCE is that, if you ran it through a Bu0026amp;W filter, you would end up with something that would be completely appropriate (and well reviewed!) for a theatrical release from the 1960-1965 era. For the wild youth of today, however, woke or not, the subtle movements in the storyline may however fall a little flat.”
