“I hadnu0026#39;t seen u0026quot;Conspiratorsu0026quot; (aka u0026quot;Tong mouu0026quot;) from 2013 before now in 2021, when I was presented with the chance to sit down to watch it. And it merely being a Hong Kong movie was sufficient to make me sit down to watch the movie, plus it being a movie that I hadnu0026#39;t already seen also helped sell it to me.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnd while u0026quot;Conspiratorsu0026quot; is a watchable movie, it hardly was an outstanding foray into the Hong Kong crime thrillers. The storyline just felt way too bland and mundane, to be bluntly honest. So three writers – Mang-Cheung Ng, Oxide Chun Pang and Thomas Pang – just failed to manage to conjure up an impressive movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe movie was evenly paced, though the storyline just didnu0026#39;t provide me with outstanding or memorable events. And this is a movie that will vanish into oblivion as quietly as it managed to evade my attention back in 2013.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnd not even having Aaron Kwok and Nick Cheung on the cast list could do much to lift up the overall feel of the movie. Not that they were putting on bad performances, though, but they just werenu0026#39;t at the top game here. I believe it was the mundane and lacking script that served as anchors around their legs.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eUsually the Pang brothers are known for more entertaining movies of higher quality, but of course a streak has to deviate and end eventually.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eMy rating of u0026quot;Conspiratorsu0026quot; lands on a very mediocre five out of ten stars.”
