Carne – Fleisch: Directed by Marco Ferreri. With Sergio Castellitto, Francesca Dellera, Philippe Léotard, Farid Chopel. A beautiful film which is basically about a man, a piano player, who meets and falls in love with a beautiful and voluptuous woman, who, by some strange procedure, leaves the man unable to move but with a permanent priapism! After some time he becomes sick of it and she relieves his paralysis. Eventually she gets bored and decides to leave, but he can’t take it because he loves her…

“Marco Ferreri was one of the most original directors in Italian cinema history, his movies contend with relationship of the modern man and the society where he lives, this relationship is often described as to be alienating and claustrophobic, however theyu0026#39;re greatly ironic movies, u0026quot;easyu0026quot; to watch.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnother theme so dear to Ferreri is the woman, and La Carne (The Flesh) is another movie with a freaky female figure as protagonist. The women of Marco Ferreri are not normal human beings, theyu0026#39;re more a sort of superwomen, theyu0026#39;re always portrayed as dangerous beings for the man and often the man is himself a victim in the hands of theirs, concerning this I remember first Ferreriu0026#39;s great movies: Lu0026#39;ape Regina (The Conjugal Bed), La Donna Scimmia (The Ape Woman) and later La Dernière Femme (The Last Woman). Even if the women of Ferreri seem to be u0026quot;superhumanu0026quot; and u0026quot;aboveu0026quot; the common man I think that his standpoint about the women shouldnu0026#39;t be intended as a womanu0026#39;s celebration or as a sort of tribute to women, quite another thing: on closer inspection Ferreriu0026#39;s outlook about women reveals a strongly misogynist conception, I think so because those female portrays are so grotesque and so devoid of humanity that youu0026#39;d have difficulty to recognize a real woman in them, in short the women of Marco Ferreri are parodies, for instance in u0026quot;I Love Youu0026quot; we witness to an event of objectification of women, there the woman is replaced by a talking key-chain, thatu0026#39;s Ferreri on the summit of his misogyny I think.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eLa Carne is not one of his best movies, however it should be seen if for no other reason than Francesca Dellera, sheu0026#39;s absolutely amazing, let me be clear, she CANu0026#39;T act but sheu0026#39;s a sort of living u0026quot;visual effectu0026quot; talking about sensuality and sex appeal, sheu0026#39;d be able to arouse a sort of u0026quot;cannibal attractionu0026quot; both in men and women and itu0026#39;s just a cannibal love what Paolo (Sergio Castellitto) will feel about her.”
