“u0026#39;La Tortue Rougeu0026#39; aka u0026#39;The Red Turtleu0026#39; is a rare film to find in this day and age of animated films. I say this not just because of its limited worldwide screenings, or due to it being a post Hayao Miyazaki Studio Ghibli film but because this is a feature length dialogue-less film. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eInstead of relying on dialogue, u0026#39;The Red Turtleu0026#39; uses the talented animators of Studio Ghibli to visually storytell this film. This is what keeps u0026#39;The Red Turtleu0026#39; a float. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003ePositives: u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eGorgeous stunning hand crafted animationu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eGreat visual storytellingu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eFun side characters (crabs)u003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eThought Provokingu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eNegatives:u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eLacklustre plotu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eLong runtimeu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu003culu003eu003cliu003eForgettable filmu003c/liu003eu003c/ulu003eu003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIn summary although gorgeously animated, what lets u0026#39;The Red Turtleu0026#39; down is its story. Disappointing to say but at the end of the day no matter what film, STORY IS ALWAYS KEY. I personally believe this major issue would not exist if the runtime was cut to 30-40 minutes instead of the 80 minute runtime. That being said it is still an okay film for sure. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI give u0026#39;The Red Turtleu0026#39; a 6/10 (slightly above average). I only recommend watching this film if you love to watch visually stunning animated films or just want to watch Studio Ghibliu0026#39;s latest art.”
