Santa Sangre: Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky. With Axel Jodorowsky, Blanca Guerra, Guy Stockwell, Thelma Tixou. A former circus artist escapes from a mental hospital to rejoin his armless mother – the leader of a strange religious cult – and is forced to enact brutal murders in her name as he becomes “her arms”.

“Once again, Alejandro Jodorowsky has managed to come up with a film that defies genrification even as it defies description. Santa Sangre is, on its surface, something of a suspense/horror film, but under the surface, itu0026#39;s a psychological drama, a black comedy, and about a hundred other genres all meshing in such perfect harmony that itu0026#39;s impossible to easily categorize this masterpiece.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAll I can say is, if you have a chance to see this film, definitely do so. While the film is not recommended for those under 18 on the box, it is unrated. Much of the violence here is suggested rather than shown, and what nudity there is is more allegorical and less prurient. Probably not for the squeamish, but never crosses that line between the disturbing and the gross-out.”
