Roxie (2014)
36KRoxie: Directed by Nick Frangione. With David Usner, Joel Roth, Kelly Burk, Sheryl Hartman. A coming-of-age film about two sixty-year-old best buddies who should have come-of-age a long time ago. When Marriage and Family Therapists, Dave and Joel, set off for a San Francisco Therapy Conference, with the intention of hiring Escorts as an escape from their own failing marriages, they wind up in the pathway of a scheming prostitute named Roxie. This encounter with Roxie will prove to be the biggest test of Dave and Joel’s friendship.
“First I checked the reviews. Wow . . . ALL good. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSo, then I watched the film. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWell, clearly this first part is a joke, I thought. Some stylistic extreme used to set up a premise. But it kept on. With the same people and the same absolutely ATROCIOUS acting. And, lest we place the entire burden on those hapless people . . . though they do deserve a good portion u0026#39;cause they are AWFUL . . . the directing was also truly awful.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWait . . . what? . . . I checked the reviews again . . . did I miss something? Were the u0026#39;Badu0026#39; reviews somehow in some other place? Nope. None.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSo, back I went for long enough to appreciate fully the silliness of the writing. Itu0026#39;s lack of depth, intelligence . . . for that matter: sense.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI gave it about thirty minutes and then I got it. This is A BAD BAD movie. Oh, I thought, WHY DIDNu0026#39;T ANYONE WARN ME? Oh well, off to another film tra la . . . but this crapper, u0026#39;Roxie,u0026#39; this one kept nagging at me. I kept worrying about poor unwarned you, about to fall into the trap of NO WARNING, as had I.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eSigh, I thought, I donu0026#39;t wanna write a review u0026#39;cause IMDb MAKES me write ten lines and all I have is one: u0026#39;THIS STINKS!u0026#39; So, no, Iu0026#39;m not gonna bother, I decided and Off I went again to that other film tra la. STILL, you – poor unwarned you – pulled at me and I thought, oh ****, I can do it. I can come up with ten lines about what a waste of time this crapper is.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAND, I think I have.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDonu0026#39;t bother with u0026#39;Roxie,u0026#39; it is unbelievably awful. Youu0026#39;re welcome.”
