Der Tod kam als Engel: Directed by Mary Lambert. With Tracey Gold, Perry King, Shawnee Smith, Don Harvey. On her wedding night, twenty-year-old Darcy Palmer empties her fiancé’s bank account and flees to New York City. Along the way, she tries robbing Brianne Dwyer, who’s heading to a New England college for her freshman year, and ends up killing her. Darcy assumes Brianne’s identity, enrolls in her place at college, and kills anyone who gets in her way. When Darcy becomes interested in her roommate Jeanelle’s wealthy widowed father, she poisons Jeanelle so that she’s too sick to spend time with him when he visits the campus, and Darcy takes her place. Suspecting her dirty deeds, Jeanelle confronts her roommate, who coolly admits to killing many people and stealing their identities. Then, Darcy attacks… Just in the nick of time, Jeanelle’s father rescues her from harm. Darcy escapes but is caught just as she’s about to snare her next victim…

“I donu0026#39;t think Tracy Gold is really that great an actress. Her performance in this movie didnu0026#39;t change my opinion. She overacts and her portrayal of a deeply disturbed sociopath is just downright campy at times. Luckily, the storyline and supporting cast are excellent and weu0026#39;re all just waiting for u0026quot;Brianne/Darcy/whatever her name isu0026quot; to get her just desserts — does she? Youu0026#39;ll just have to watch and find out! Tracy looks very skinny in this movie, evidence no doubt of her battle with anorexia. They needed a voluptuous blonde vixen for this role. Itu0026#39;s a bit hard to swallow Carol Seaver substituting sulfuric acid for eye drops. Shawnee Smith sports a super-short hair-do which I didnu0026#39;t really like. If youu0026#39;re a Shawnee fan, she undoubtedly looks her best on u0026quot;Beckeru0026quot;. Great actress!”
