Mord in Haiti: Directed by Raoul Peck. With Alex Descas, Ayo, Thibault Vinçon, Lovely Kermonde Fifi. After the terrible January 2010 earthquake in Haiti, a privileged couple struggles to reinvent a life amid the rubbles of their villa in Port-au-Prince’s upscale neighborhood of Pacot. Destitute and in desperate need for money to repair their home, the couple decides to rent the remaining habitable part of the villa to Alex, a high-level foreign relief worker, who brings Jennifer, aka Andrémise, his Haitian girlfriend, a sassy and ambitious young woman.

“Itu0026#39;s refreshing to see Alex Descas in a leading role or in anything else for that matter. The story is quite understated but still engaging and the characters in general work well together. Although it felt kinda long, it wasnu0026#39;t painful. I thought the ending was a little bit odd and seemed quite unnecessary – I suppose I didnu0026#39;t really understand it and there didnu0026#39;t seem to be any real associated clues along the way to warrant such an ending. Anyhow, not a bad film.”
