Poppitz (2002)

Poppitz: Directed by Harald Sicheritz. With Roland Düringer, Marie Bäumer, Nora Heschl, Kai Wiesinger. Straight from his boss’ funeral an austrian car salesman goes on a club hollyday with his german wife and his teenage daughter. Stressed out about his future at the job, his stray suitcase and his daughters hollyday flirts also breaks the old feud between austrians and germans wich leads to quite bizarre events.

“I saw this film in Austria a few years ago and loved it. I was just learning German, saw it without subtitles, and yet found it pretty easy to follow along. I was laughing hard in several places and found it to be a very amusing, enjoyable, goofy comedy. Not super satisfied with the ending, but overall it was well worth watching. Others watching were laughing hard as well and enjoying it even more, since they were getting the German vs. Austrian inside jokes. I didnu0026#39;t get all the jokes due to the language barrier, but I still laughed quite a bit. Family vacation antics with a little bit of a Secret Life of Walter Mitty quality to it. Iu0026#39;m a pretty tough critic when it comes to comedies and do not laugh so easily at things that are supposed to be cute. As an example, I rolled my eyes and groaned while watching u0026quot;Amelieu0026quot;–didnu0026#39;t enjoy it–although the masses adored it. I donu0026#39;t recommend many comedies, but I do recommend this one.”
