Eaux d’artifice: Directed by Kenneth Anger. With Carmilla Salvatorelli. A man dressed in an elegant period dress wanders through the water gardens at the Villa d’Este.

“Pointless (and deadly dull) short film by Kenneth Anger. It involves a small woman (called the Water Witch I believe) wandering around this place with tons of gushing water. Then at the end she becomes a fountain. Swear to God–thatu0026#39;s it! Angeru0026#39;s early films are an acquired taste. I did like u0026quot;Fireworksu0026quot;, u0026quot;Puce Momentu0026quot; and u0026quot;Rabbits Moonu0026quot; but the popularity of this has always escaped me. Iu0026#39;ve seen it multiple times and (more often than not) found myself struggling to stay awake! Angeru0026#39;s beautiful imagery seems to be missing here. Just a bunch of gushing water and a midget running around in a bizarre outfit is not enough to keep me interested. How this got on the list of film to be preserved is beyond me. u0026quot;Fireworksu0026quot; is MUCH better than this–but I guess u0026quot;Fireworksu0026quot; is too homo erotic. I personally canu0026#39;t stand this one but many others seem to think itu0026#39;s a masterpiece. Use your own judgment.”
