The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young (2014)
30KThe Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young: Directed by Annika Iltis, Timothy James Kane. With Lazarus Lake. A famous prison escape sparks the idea for a cult-like race that has seen only 10 finishers in its first 25 years. This award-winning, oddly inspiring, and wildly funny documentary reveals the sports world’s most guarded secret.
“A friend told me about this. Itu0026#39;s not a topic I would normally find interesting, but I was mesmerized from the first scene. Its homespun, down-home interviews with a professional film crew and engaging set of stories, along with plenty of scenes giving tastes of how very, very hard this event is. Unlike so many documentaries that get dull with an oppressive amount of detail and back-story, the film doesnu0026#39;t show you everything and tell you everything. This is a good thing. It left me wanting to know more, but feeling good with what the film delivered. I couldnu0026#39;t find one flaw with the film, and plenty of extras I didnu0026#39;t expect.”
