Hurley: Directed by Derek Dodge. With Patrick Dempsey, Hurley Haywood. American racing legend Hurley Haywood speaks for the first time about being gay in the 1970’s macho world of motor sports, and sets the record straight about his relationship with co-driver Peter Gregg.

“I cannot believe this documentary has not been reviewed, even by a family member, or a friend? I am honoured to be the first.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIu0026#39;m an Irishman, living in Ireland. Iu0026#39;m White, Straight, and obviously Male. I donu0026#39;t have to look over my shoulder at anytime, day or night.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eI never heard of Hurley Haywood naturally because, we donu0026#39;t get too much American motor racing in Ireland. Iu0026#39;m one of the few that knows a bit but, thatu0026#39;s neither here nor there.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWhat drew me to this documentary was, motor racing, and love. I love motor racing. F1, Formula E, DTM, NASCAR, IMSA, Euroformula, MotoGP, the list goes on. As to Love, who has the right to decide, who can love whom they love?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIu0026#39;m lucky to live in a country, that kicked the World in itu0026#39;s collective ass, and told it in no uncertain terms, love is love. We also have Rosemary Smith, one of the first Female International Racing Drivers, of any type.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt wa a joy to watch, it was painful at times, because of love being denied or hidden but, I have a feeling, that was the point. I got it in a heartbeat, hopefully someday, the rest of the world will catch up.”
