“I watched this at home on DVD from my public library. Picture and sound are OK for an older movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eLaura Dekker is the young lady who sailed solo around the world when she was 14 and 15. The movie u0026quot;Maidentripu0026quot; (2013) documents her exploits, and in one interview she stated that u0026quot;Captain Ronu0026quot; is her favorite movie. So I had to see it even though she didnu0026#39;t tell me directly to do so.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eKurt Russell was 40-ish during filming, he plays the part of Captain Ron. He is hired to sail an older boat from the Caribbean to Florida, for the family played by Martin Short and Mary Kay Place. Of course he isnu0026#39;t a very competent sailor, his motto is u0026quot;If we donu0026#39;t know where we are weu0026#39;ll just stop somewhere and ask for directions.u0026quot;u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eAnyway the whole thing is a comedy but I can see how a real sailor, like Laura Decker, would enjoy this movie. I enjoyed it although in total it is pretty mediocre. Lots of slapstick.”
