U-ri-deul: Directed by Ga-eun Yoon. With Soo-In Choi, Hye-in Seol, Lee Seo-Yeon, Joon-woo Choi. At an age when perhaps friends mean more than moms, 10 year-old Sun is an outcast at school. During summer vacation, she meets Jia, who is new to town. As Sun shows Jia around the neighborhood and they play at each other’s houses and share secrets, they become best friends. However when the new semester starts, Jia notices a strange vibe between Sun and the other kids. Jia tries to get into the cool kids group and starts to distance herself from Sun. Inside the perhaps more complex and delicate world of children than adults, the two girls end up hurting and getting hurt by each other.

“Iu0026#39;m a fan of child dramas because theyu0026#39;re normally innocence versus adversity, a learning curve I relate to. Unfortunately, they can be as generic as a pop song but u0026#39;The World of Usu0026#39; wasnu0026#39;t.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eIt starts with a girl being the last to be picked for a side for a game. So young yet without exaggerations, the young actress made me feel discomforted by her discomfort so many times.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eDirector Ga-eun Yoon was subtle, conveying messages strongly without ramming them home.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eu0026#39;The World of Usu0026#39; is superb.”
