Furnival and Son: Directed by Denis Segaller.

“Coming back from the war, young Furnival must choose between his fatheru0026#39;s struggling steel firm or the big, prosperous company that has offered him a job. He tours his old city while making up his mind.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eMade for the Board of Trade by The Central Office of Information itu0026#39;s unclear just who the intended audience was, I can only guess it was for other returning warriors who wondered where they might fit into the new order of the rebuilding city. Thatu0026#39;s the fascinating bit, particularly if youu0026#39;re a woodworker or knife aficionado that revels in the presence of genuine Sheffield steel products. Seeing the various foundries hard at work is a bit of steel geek heaven.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eFor cinephiles thereu0026#39;s not a lot of new ground covered but, for what it is, itu0026#39;s competently done and not painful to watch. Cinematography is quite good and itu0026#39;s definitely a snapshot of a time and place that is long gone.”
