Lemmy: Directed by Greg Olliver, Wes Orshoski. With Lemmy, Phil Campbell, Mikkey Dee, Dave Navarro. A documentary on the life and career of revered heavy-metal musician Lemmy Kilmister.

“u0026quot;Lemmyu0026quot; (sub-title: u0026quot;49% mother@#$%er, 51% son-of-a-@#$%u0026quot;) is an engrossing documentary about the life and times of Motorhead bassist/frontman Ian u0026quot;Lemmyu0026quot; Kilmister, one of the more unique figures in rock and roll. His band, of course, is legendary, and till now Lemmy has been a rather mysterious figure. He has never been one to seek the spotlight or grab tabloid headlines, and seems content to simply do what he does and remain u0026quot;under the radaru0026quot; to everyone but his devoted fan base.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe film follows Lemmy around during his day-to-day life (recording sessions for Motorheadu0026#39;s 2007 u0026quot;MOTORIZERu0026quot; album, gigs with his u0026#39;50s/rockabilly side band The Head Cat, appearing on the u0026quot;Lovelineu0026quot; radio show, and holding down his customary bar stool at Hollywoodu0026#39;s Rainbow Bar u0026amp; Grill) while an extensive parade of rock and showbiz royalty (including such luminaries as Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, Slash and Duff of Guns N Roses, Henry Rollins, Scott Ian of Anthrax, all of the members of Metallica, actor Billy Bob Thornton, tattoo artist Kat Von D, and Marky Ramone, just to name a few) all confirm what most of us knew already: that Lemmy is one of the coolest, most bad-ass rock u0026amp; roll mo-fou0026#39;s ever to walk on Godu0026#39;s green Earth. Interviews with the man himself reveal him to be a man with rock u0026#39;nu0026#39; roll encoded in his DNA. This is a guy who saw the Beatles live in Liverpool before they even had a record out, who roadied for Jimi Hendrix, and made his mark in the legendary space-rock band Hawkwind before going on to infect the world with Motorhead. Underneath all that, though,heu0026#39;s a pretty simple guy who lives alone in a small Hollywood apartment, doesnu0026#39;t put on airs and doesnu0026#39;t put himself on a pedestal. His vibe seems to be, more or less, u0026quot;this is me, this is what I do, if you like it, fine…if not, go to hell.u0026quot; A mix of current and vintage Motorhead concert clips keep the volume level up and prove that even after nearly 35 years, Motorhead remain a force to be reckoned with in the live arena. Heu0026#39;s a true national treasure.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eEven if youu0026#39;re not a Motorhead fan (and if youu0026#39;re not, shame on you!) u0026quot;Lemmyu0026quot; is a fast, funny, and totally entertaining profile of a man whou0026#39;s definitely a true original.”
