In die Enge getrieben: Directed by Phil Karlson. With Ginger Rogers, Edward G. Robinson, Brian Keith, Lucy Marlow. A female inmate is whisked out of prison and into a police guarded hotel until the district attorney can convince her to testify against the mob in the upcoming trial.

“Ginger Rogersu0026#39; performance (straight out of u0026quot;Roxie Hartu0026quot;) makes this film. Others have found Ms. Rogers to be too old for the film. I think that the fact that she is a bit u0026quot;past her primeu0026quot; adds to her character, which has (letu0026#39;s face it) been u0026quot;around the blocku0026quot; a few times. She and Brian Keith (doing his patented tough-as-nails copper) make a potent team. It is a pity that they did no more work together. The film itself is a strange mixture of Rogersu0026#39; comic sass and Karlsonu0026#39;s brand of hard-hitting melodrama. Ultimately, the film is sunk by an unbelievable plot contrivance that leaves the audience feeling betrayed. However, the performances (including, of course, Robinsonu0026#39;s) make this a worthwhile experience.”
