Michael Jenkins’ movie “The Heartbreak Kid” centers on the coming of age relationship between a teacher (Claudia Karvin), and a wild and spirited student (Alex Demitrides). The teacher , Christiana jolts the young man, Nick’s sexuality beyond belief. This story is centered in the Australian-Greek life upbringing which Nick is shown the truth about street life. Christiana is locked into traditions of how women are restricted into Greek traditions of women in the work place. Also how she commits herself into destined life of marriage with children which leaves her living across the street with her mom and dad.

“I saw this film a few days ago by accident on late night TV. As it was starting it looked kind of dated and I thought it was a 50u0026#39;s film of some sort. But then i saw the Greek family and as iu0026#39;m from a Greek background i thought it was gonna be an interesting watch. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThen after I saw about 15 minutes i knew it was based on the TV series u0026quot;Heartbreak Highu0026quot; or should i say the series was based on the film. I never knew this film existed or that the series was based on such a film so it was a bit of shock. u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eItu0026#39;s an interesting fictional film that takes place in the Greek community in Australia. However, it felt a bit corny in places only because it was made 10 years ago and itu0026#39;s really dated.”
