Die Maske: Directed by Chuck Russell. With Jim Carrey, Peter Riegert, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck. Bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss is transformed into a manic superhero when he wears a mysterious mask.

“This was the movie that got me into Jim Carrey (though Iu0026#39;d seen him on u0026quot;In Living Coloru0026quot; a couple of times), and itu0026#39;s still my favorite, though Ace Ventura #1 was also kind of funny.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThe great thing about this film is that Jim is actually really restrained all throughout, only going into goof ball mode when he puts on the Mask. Heu0026#39;s pretty likable and engaging here, not quite as prone to irritating some audience members like he did in u0026quot;Batman Foreveru0026quot; and u0026quot;Ace Ventura #2u0026quot;. Cameron Diaz… my God, she looked SO GOOD here, how have her looks faded so quickly since this film? She looks so… plastic now, kind of like a giant Barbie doll.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eOne of the big standout scenes in this one is Jim singing u0026quot;Cuban Peteu0026quot; to escape all the cops. Not that the other Mask gags are unfunny, but Cuban Pete really stands out. Too bad the cartoon Mask didnu0026#39;t have a little more restraint to it.”
