El Hijo: Directed by Sebastián Schindel. With Joaquín Furriel, Martina Gusman, Luciano Cáceres, Heidi Toini. Lorenzo, a 50 y.o. painter, is having a child with his new wife, Sigrid. She gets stranger and stranger – or he does. He claims, the baby’s been switched.

“I might be the only person who was thoroughly creeped out by this movie: the wifeu0026#39;s apparent psychopathy and her ominous midwife/nannyu0026#39;s Igor-like devotion. The movie made me try to establish a relationship between the wifeu0026#39;s science profession and what happens in the movie but it was too much of a stretch. This movie bordered on becoming a full-on horror movie, what with babies involved. But basically, it was the wifeu0026#39;s peculiar behavior, lack of empathy, and psychopathic tendencies that frightened me. The ending was kind of a relief, but it leaves the viewer feeling unsatisfied because of a lack of answers. Itu0026#39;s not a great movie, but itu0026#39;s pretty good and works as a low level horror flick.”
