The comparision of the noble enlisted men standing for honor, Queen and Country while the officers have the morally bankrupt practicality so evident in the declining days of an empire. Richard Attenborough is excellent as the efficient by the book sargeant whose moral stand is betrayed by the very Empire he holds so dear.”
