Top Secret: Directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker. With Val Kilmer, Lucy Gutteridge, Peter Cushing, Jeremy Kemp. Parody of WWII spy movies in which an American rock and roll singer becomes involved in a Resistance plot to rescue a scientist imprisoned in East Germany.

There are just as many jokes, the jokes are just as good, the timing is as always perfect. Am I missing something? Is it just that u0026quot;Airplane!u0026quot; was bold in breaking barriers for spoof movies, setting a precedent that u0026quot;Top Secret!u0026quot; was just there to follow?u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eThatu0026#39;s not to diminish the quality of u0026quot;Airplane!u0026quot;, which is one of my favorites. But whatu0026#39;s wrong with u0026quot;Top Secret!u0026quot;? Why only a 6.6 rating? It must be from those purists who donu0026#39;t understand movies like this, and donu0026#39;t like this movie because the plot is not as well-developed as the plot of u0026quot;Airplane!u0026quot; Donu0026#39;t get me wrong – ordinarily a more developed plot only makes a movie funnier, but in the case of a spoof like this, the plot isnu0026#39;t important (it has often been said that the plot is just a u0026quot;clotheslineu0026quot; for the jokes in such movies). Those purists completely miss the point of this movie.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eWatch this movie unless youu0026#39;re one of those blasted aforementioned purists. If that is the case, go watch u0026quot;The Philadelphia Storyu0026quot; for the thousandth time.”
